Winifred Nicholson
Hampstead Art Society will be featuring works by the British artist (1893 - 1981) at our summer exhibition in St. James’s, July 5th-12th.
One of Britain's most significant 20th century artists - Winifred Nicholson's paintings have an understated power to captivate, with a painterly delight for surfaces that arrives at compositions that feel simultaneously intimate, tangible and poetic.
Her career found her in contact with a milieu of important British and European artists of her time, most notably in St. Ives and Paris, and her work continues to resonate with contemporary artists today.
Hampstead Art Society will also be organising a talk coinciding with the exhibition at Gallery 8 in Duke Street St. James’s (Further details forthcoming).
